Biography
Hi! My name is Danielle Grillo and I am a recent summa cum laude graduate of Sacred Heart University with a B.A. in Media Arts: Film & Television, along with a minor in Journalism.
My primary focus is in broadcast journalism, where I have gained hands-on experience producing for The Pulse, Sacred Heart’s student news show, as well as producing individual news segments for local outlets, including coverage of national issues through community perspectives for the Fairfield County News. These opportunities have allowed me to develop strong reporting, editing, and narrative development skills while learning how to engage audiences with content that is both informative and impactful.
I am also deeply passionate about photography, which complements my journalistic work by providing me with another outlet for visual storytelling. Photography allows me to explore the world creatively, document experiences, and communicate messages and emotions that words alone sometimes cannot convey. Whether it’s portraiture, photojournalistic work, or travel photography, I enjoy finding the meaning behind each image and sharing it with others.
During my time studying abroad in Rome, Italy, I focused on capturing moments and interactions through photography and video, from everyday life to historic events. The opportunity provided me with an international perspective on media and broadened my understanding of visual storytelling. Additionally, it strengthened my ability to connect with people and communities of different cultures in meaningful ways.
Ultimately, I am committed to pursuing a career in journalism because I love telling people’s stories. Whether it is through broadcast, print, or multimedia projects, I am motivated by the possibility to inform and inspire, creating work that resonates with communities and amplifies voices that deserve to be heard. My goal is to highlight important narratives that deserve to be known, and to give attention to people that might otherwise go unnoticed.
